We currently serve children in California:
(1) experiencing symptoms of chronic abdominal pain where organic medical diagnoses, such as Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) or Celiac Disease, have been ruled out as primary causes of pain. Referral diagnoses may include chronic abdominal pain, disorders of gut-brain interaction (DGBI), or Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
or
(2) experiencing primary headache.
Also, this treatment is best suited for youth whose pain symptoms are having a negative impact on their life (e.g., interrupting their ability to engage in activities they value). Symptoms of anxiety and/or depression may be present.
Please note that we have a team of pediatric health psychologists with expertise working with children experiencing a broad range of medical conditions and health concerns (e.g., diabetes, chronic pain, needle-phobia, allergies). If your child has a health concern and is in need of behavioral treatment, please reach out and we will assess match with our health psychologists.
Finally, we are unable to accept referrals for patients experiencing acute concerns for mental health crises, such as risk of self-harm or suicidality.
We serve adolescents throughout California online via HIPAA-secure telehealth technology (i.e., video visits).

We are accepting referrals from medical providers, school nurses, or directly from families.
If your medical provider or school nurse has recommended Streamind, they can complete a referral at streamindhealth.com/referrals. Additional information pertaining to the referral can be faxed by your provider to 855-234-9106.
If you are a patient or caregiver and are interested in Streamind, you can place a self-referral at streamindhealth.com/referrals. We will ask questions about the medical provider(s) most engaged in your child's medical care and may coordinate with them directly in order to offer the most seamless, informed behavioral care.
- 06
We ask that providers, school nurses, and/or caregivers complete a very brief referral form at streamindhealth.com/referrals.
To assist in processing the referral, we may reach out to the medical provider(s) most engaged in your child's care to collect additional information. This level of coordination allows us to offer streamlined behavioral care informed by your child's medical history and treatment plan. If your provider has placed the referral, we will coordinate with them directly. If a caregiver or school nurse has placed the referral, we will request the medical provider's contact information (and a signed Release of Information from the caregiver) in order to access the necessary records/information from your child's medical provider.
- 07
(1) To get started, the physician/medical provider, school nurse, or caregiver completes a referral.
(2) Our Streamind administrative coordinator will be in touch with the family to discuss the intervention, insurance coverage, and next steps.
(3) Once onboarding is completed, the intake evaluation will be scheduled.
(4) Parents and adolescents will complete intake questionnaires before the first appointment.
(5) During the first video visit, the family will meet with a licensed pediatric behavioral health clinician (a licensed mental health provider with expertise in your child's medical condition or health concern). This intake allows your child's provider to gather relevant information about your child’s medical symptoms, as well as how they are doing emotionally, in school, and with friends. At the end of the visit, the provider, child, and family begin to create a tailored treatment plan.
(6) Treatment is typically 8-15 weeks and includes weekly live video visits, skill building homework, electronic symptom tracking and education, as well as ongoing coordination with the medical team, as needed.

We are actively working to become in-network with major insurance providers. In the meantime, we are committed to being insurance-friendly and supporting families in accessing out-of-network coverage whenever possible.
If your plan does not cover services directly, we provide detailed documentation (superbills) and can assist in accessing our-of-network coverage. We also offer reduced out-of-pocket rates for families paying directly for care, which range from $150-$300/session for those with commercial insurance and are $50/session for those with MediCal.
Please contact our coordinator for verification of insurance details or to inquire about out-of-pocket payment options at info@streamindhealth.com or (707-666-3397).
